WISCONSIN LUMBERJACKS ADD COLE JACKSON TO COACHING STAFF

May 24, 2019

Spooner, Wisconsin– The Wisconsin Lumberjacks are pleased to announce the addition of Cole Jackson to our coaching staff.

The Wisconsin Lumberjacks have hired Cole Jackson, a Eveleth, Minnesota native, as an Assistant Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the 2019-2020 season. Jackson joins the Lumberjacks after completing a degree in exercise science with two minors in strength & conditioning and coaching from Minnesota State University Moorhead. This coming after competing as a four year varsity letter winner for Eveleth-Gilbert high school of the Minnesota State High School Hockey League.

Head coach and general manager, Doug Lein is thrilled to add Jackson to the staff, saying “The addition of Cole is something that we have been working on for about a month now. We look at Cole as an all around win for our program. As he will be involved not only in the day to day operations, whether it be on the ice or off the ice, but brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our off-ice program.”

Team president, Sophia Pinto, had this to add on the hiring of Jackson, “I know when we discussed the hiring of a second assistant, Doug’s main goal was to hire a young coach that could be developed and brought along. After reviewing several potential assistant coaches, we as an organization really settled in on Jackson. Between coach Lein and coach Hendrickson and the addition of Cole to the staff, I feel strongly about not only our staff, but how our program is coming together from top to bottom.

When asked about what attracted him to the opportunity in Spooner, Jackson stated, “As a young guy trying to break into coaching and fresh out of school, my main goal was to find an organization that had strong values and one that gave me a strong sense of potential for my own growth and development.

Jackson also added that finding an opportunity where he could bring added value to the table right out of the gate was something that weighed in his decision. Jackson went on to add, “I was really impressed with what the Lumberjacks are doing and who they have involved in their program. I feel as if I can learn a lot from coach Lein and coach Hendrickson, but that I too bring value adding strengths to the hockey club.”
