Phillips Scores 100th Point, Jacks Win

Hayward, WI – Captain Dillon Phillips scored his 100th point in a Lumberjacks sweater as Wisconsin beat Kenora 6-2 on Saturday night in Hayward. It was a quick start for the Lumberjacks as less than a minute into the 1st period they claimed a 1-0 lead. Sutton Majeske was the goal scorer with an assist going to Maddox Achtor. It took just over another 10 minutes of play before Wisconsin was able to extend the lead with a goal from January Rookie of the Month Collin Baker. Things would even out and the 2 teams would play the rest of the period without a score. 

In the 2nd Phillips took over scoring the next 2 goals. His 1st score was assisted by Kaden Postal and Ryan Kayser, the  2nd by Koen Burkholder. With just under 5 minutes remaining Kenora would answer back with a power play goal from Chance Traverse. Wisconsin wasn’t content with their 4-1 lead and kept pushing, with 29 seconds left Marshall Thomas found the back of the net to make it 5-1. 

Ryan Kayser and Brayden Mackay would trade goals in the final frame and the game would end with Wisconsin on top 6-2. Riley Burnett got the win in goal stopping 30 of 32 shots for the Lumberjacks. Kaden King made 42 saves in a losing effort. This was the only game of the weekend between the 2 teams as Friday’s match up was canceled due to unsafe traveling conditions.
