WISCONSIN LUMBERJACKS ANNOUNCE THE ADDITION OF GARRET HENDRICKSON TO COACHING STAFF

Spooner, WI

The Wisconsin Lumberjacks are pleased to announce the hiring of Garrett Hendrickson to fill the role of Associate Head Coach and Assistant General Manager.

“He’s well-respected and somebody we’ve brought in here to help put a winning team on the ice for us,” said team President, Sophia Pinto.

Pinto added, “He’s already hit the ground running. I know Garret and our Head Coach have been burning up the phone talking through players. Garrett has a few guys who he thinks can join the club and contribute next season.”

Hendrickson, 26, joins the Lumberjacks after spending last season as an Assistant Coach with the Minnesota Wilderness in the North American Hockey League. Prior to this last season Garrett spent the 2017-2018 season with the Minnesota Iron Rangers in the SIJHL.

Hendrickson was a Minnesota Mr. Hockey Finalist leading Virginia High School to three Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament appearances. Garrett ended his high school career comfortably in the top 20 all-time in points in the state of Minnesota. After graduation Hendrickson played in the BCHL ultimately playing NCAA Division III for The Concordia “Cobbers” University.

Head Coach and General Manager, Doug Lein had this to say about the hiring, “He has a great passion for the game and brings a truck load of experience to the club. We couldn’t be more excited! We know he can come in and immediately contribute in all facets of the day to day.”

“I look at a guy like Garrett and I see tons of untapped potential. He brings so many good things, on and off the ice, to our organization that we actually didn’t make offers to any other coaches. He was my short list. I had to wait it out a bit for him to clear his head after a long season, but I had a good feeling we would be able to make him a solid offer and bring him on board,” added Lein.

Hendrickson comes in not only in terms of a significant role with the day to day of the Junior team but will also be working as a big part of all the Lumberjacks youth camps and clinics that the team runs throughout the year.
