DRYDEN, Ont. – Justin Pitari had two goals and dished out an assist Wednesday evening as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs went on to drop the Wisconsin Lumberjacks 6-2 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Memorial Arena.
Dryden’s special teams got them a pair of shorthanded tallies in the first frame when Xavier Halterman and Pitari connected 70 seconds apart while the home side was down a skater.
It was more from the GM Ice Dogs in the latter portion of the middle period when Nolan Marshall and Gavyn Galloway scored less than a minute apart to make it 4-0.
Wisconsin did get one back before the stanza was complete thanks to Dalton Garcia’s eighth of the season, which came at 17:05.
In the third, Josh Weber got that back for Dryden early on, only to see Ryley Cardinal counter for the Lumberjacks a couple of shifts later with his first SIJHL goal.
Pitari then capped off his three-point night the back half of the period as he reached 12 goals on the year in rounding out the night’s scoring.
The GM Ice Dogs’ Knute Loe made 33 saves in his league debut to register the victory while Hunter Adams was peppered with 53 shots against in defeat for Wisconsin.
