Norskies Prevail In Overtime in Season Opener

The Thief River Falls Norskies won by a score of 3 to 2 in overtime against the Wisconsin Lumberjacks in opening night action in the 2021-22 SIJHL season.
It was a special occasion marking the first SIJHL game south of the 49th parallel since March of 2020, following a season in which the Norskies and Lumberjacks were unable to compete and the rest of the SIJHL was only able to get a handful of games in before the 2020-21 season was ultimately cancelled as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
All 3 Norskie goals were scored by 18 year old Scott Bugarin #2 of Moreno Valley, CA. The winning goalie for the Norskies with 32 saves was 18 year old Matthew Loney #35 of Highland, CA. Tanner Chapman #7 had 2 assists and R.J. Dickie #9 had an assist for the Norskies.
