Mueller posts shutout as Wisconsin blanks Dryden

SPOONER, Wis. – Nathan Mueller stopped all 22 shots he faced to post his second shutout of the season as the Wisconsin Lumberjacks went on to blank the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 5-0 in Superior International Junior Hockey League action Saturday at the Spooner Civic Center.

Wisconsin came out flying and skated out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play on a pair of goals, including the game-winner, from Dalton Garcia and a single off the stick of Jack Jones.

The Lumberjacks kept coming and added to their cushion with a couple of markers in the back half of the middle stanza compliments of Nicholas Foldesi’s initial SIJHL tally at 10:55 followed by Joel Matthews’ third just before the stanza expired.

The home side then shut the door in the final frame in keeping Dryden off the score sheet to complete a two-weekend sweep of the GM Ice Dogs.

Dryden starter Jacob Anthony started and suffered the loss allowing the five against in two periods of play while Dawson Rattai handled all nine attempts he saw in third period relief.
