Lumberjacks rally to edge GM Ice Dogs

SPOONER, Wis. – The Wisconsin Lumberjacks picked up a pair of third period tallies to help them rally for a 3-2 home ice victory over the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Friday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League meeting at the Spooner Civic Center.

Dryden collected the lone goal of the first period as Josh Gardner was credited for his fourth of the season midway through the frame.

The GM Ice Dogs then went up by a pair nearly six minutes into the middle stanza when Evan Pakkala finished off an Xavier Halterman feed to put the guest up by a pair.

Commencing their comeback, Wisconsin got on the board half way through the proceedings when Ryan Wolf notched his first SIJHL marker to cut into the deficit.

The Lumberjacks then tied it during a man advantage opportunity in the third thanks to Cade Moreland, who scored for a fifth time so far this season.

Wisconsin then capped off the comeback with four and a half minutes remaining in regulation that saw Lukas Lundgren secure the game-winner with help from Moreland and Joel Matthews.

Making 25 saves to record the win for the Lumberjacks was Nathan Mueller while Dryden starter Jacob Anthony finished with 37 stops in defeat.

Saturday night sees the two teams meeting once again in a 7:45 p.m. start back at the Civic Center.
